Time to Grocery Shopping, But No List? No Problem!

It's hard enough as is if you are a newbie to the fitness world, to stay on top of your new diet, or just eating clean altogether like you should regardless of the type of diet of choice, then to turn around and left your grocery list.  Or you just decided to throw away all of the junk and processed foods that you had in your kitchen, and it's time to restock on all healthy foods, but just trying to figure out how to eliminate the temptation of buying unhealthy foods.  No matter where you are in your fitness journey, this one hack of mine is something that most of us have never paid any attention to that will make grocery shopping so much easier, quicker, and in some ways save you a lot of time in money.

Have you ever noticed that most to all of the processed foods are located in the aisles of the grocery store?  So if you are cutting out processed foods from your diet, shouldn't you stop walking down the aisles altogether?  If you've answered "yes" to both questions, then the answer is clear.  Get into the habit of walking the perimeter of the grocery store.  Most grocery stores' layout are set up for your success.  Everything that your need to eat clean  are all in the perimeter of the store; the fresh produce, the meats, frozen vegetables, dairy, and eggs.  The only time when it would be necessary to got into an aisle is for spices, oils, rice, pastas, pasta sauces, which all are usually on the same aisle, and possibly water, which is typically near or in the wine and beer aisle.  That's a total of 2 aisles!

Sounds simple, right?  Yes, as long as you are serious about eating healthier. At first, you may think, "What about baby food and pet food?" Well, typically, you have already taken care of that.  Studies have shown that home-cooked food is both safe and healthy for both baby and cat or dog, as long as it's cooked accordingly.  There are many simple and very quick recipes for pets.  As for babies, the mashed carrots, peas, apples you can mash yourself.

If you follow me on Instagram (@e_mbodied_fitness), you may have noticed that one of my favorite hashtags is #noexcuses.  Well, this is a #noexcuses type of blog post! Aisles are made as a distraction from great health.  I know a lot of people who literally overlook the produce, which is usually the first thing that catches your eye in most grocery store, and go straight to the aisles; grabbing canned goods, sodas, chips, hamburger helper kits, on the list goes on!  Don't sell your body, your goals, and definitely yourself short.  Go follow this system, compare receipts from you last grocery trip, see where you may need some improve, and let me know about your experience!

Remember, say no to aisles...except for the two that are listed above!
